The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) is encouraging holders of Caregiving National Certificate (NC) level II to register for the Department of Migrant Workers’ (DMW) program to recruit 100 Filipino women caregivers to be deployed in South Korea.
In a statement, TESDA Director General, Secretary Suharto T. Mangudadatu said that women certified workers should seriously consider the opportunity given by the DMW as the TESDA NC is one of the important requirements for the applicants.
“We have always said that the National Certificate is being required by a growing number of employers both locally and abroad as proof of workers’ skills and abilities. This certification continues to open a lot of opportunities for TESDA graduates and certified workers,” Secretary Mangudadatu said.
Applicants must be women, between the ages 24 to 38 years old, possess a valid TESDA Caregiving NC II, and whose names are included in TESDA’s Registry of Certified Workers website (tesda.gov.ph/Rwac/Rwac2017).
Selected applicants will undergo comprehensive medical, psychological, language, and physical tests. They will receive pre-departure and post-arrival training sessions. Prospective Korean families will also attend the orientation sessions.
Registration for the Pilot Project will be open from May 9 to May 10, 2024.

The TESDA’s Caregiving NC II training consists of competencies that a person must achieve to provide care and support to infants/toddlers, provide care and support to children, foster social, intellectual, creative, and emotional development of children, foster the physical development of children, and provide care and support to the elderly, among others.
These Caregiving programs vary in nominal training durations from 549 hours for Caregiving NC II (Grade schooler to Adolescent) to 813 hours for Caregiving NC II (Clients with Special Needs).
“We are also encouraging more of our kababayans to avail of TESDA’s training programs for them to be upskilled and reskilled. The more skills our workers have, the better their chances of landing their dream jobs and remain competitive,” Secretary Mangudadatu added.
According to the DMW, the program is under the Employment Permit System (EPS), a temporary labor migration scheme for workers from certain countries with which the Republic of South Korea has signed a Memorandum of Understanding. This aims to expand bilateral labor ties, and assess the feasibility of a larger caregiver deployment plan between the Philippines and Korea.
