Taking a major step forward in implementing its new flagship program “Barangay Kasanayan para sa Kabuhayan at Kapayapaan” (BKKK), the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) on September 27, signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the Liga ng mga Barangay sa Pilipinas, at the agency’s Board Room.

In the MOA, TESDA will conduct skills needs surveys in barangays, analyze the results of these surveys, determine the skills training or livelihood programs most appropriate to the barangay residents, and coordinate with barangay officials on the conduct of skills training.

The Liga ng mga Barangay, in turn, will assist in identifying the beneficiaries of the training programs, monitor the delivery of these programs, assist in promoting technical vocational education and training (TVET) within the barangay, and monitor the attendance of residents in the skills training programs.

The agreement which was signed by Sec. Guiling A. Mamondiong in behalf of TESDA and Atty. Edmund Abesamis representing the Liga ng mga Barangay, were attended by TESDA’s Deputy Director General for TESD Operations Alvin Feliciano, Deputy Director General for Policies and Planning Rosanna Urdaneta, and several officials of the Liga ng Mga Barangay sa Pilipinas.
