BUTUAN CITY, February 20 – The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA)-Caraga Region on Wednesday launched #tesda Tabang Surigao.

Aimed at helping the victims of the recent earthquake that jolted Surigao City, the project provides assistance by way of repairing the damaged houses of the victims. Under the training-cum-production scheme, trainers and trainees from the different T ESDA Technology Institutions are send to the area.

TESDA-Caraga OIC Regional Director Rey M. Cueva said the most number of partially damaged houses are in Barangays Lipata, Mat-i and Taft. Brgy. Lipata. He added that the Surigao City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office reported that 50 houses were partially damaged in Brgy. Lipata, 267 in Brgy. Mat-i, and 194 in Brgy. Taft. These are among the barangays identified to be the subject of the project.

During the visit of TESDA Director-General – Sec. Guiling A. Mamondiong on Sunday, he expressed his full support to the program. He even conducted site inspection to Barangay Sabang III that is also affected with the earthquake for which seven houses were reported totally damaged and another seven were partially-damaged.

With this development, Sec. Mamondiong instructed Dir. Cueva to give focus and ensure the success of this project so that in one way or another, TESDA has contributed in uplifting the morale of the Surigaonons especially those who were badly hit by the calamity. (RER, TESDA-Caraga)
