Saudi trainers upgrade skills at TESDA


Up to 75 trainers from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) are currently in the country to attend various training programs under an agreement between TESDA and KSA’s Technical Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC).  The first batch of 45 started training last July 3 on courses such as Network System and Technical Support; Engineering Drawing Using Pro-Engineering; and, Home Appliance Maintenance.  The remaining 30 will be trained from July 10 to 21 in Fiber Optic Technology and Mobile Maintenance and Smart Phones.

Since its inception in 2005, more than 720 TVTC personnel have been given training and certification by TESDA under the agreement.  This year, TESDA is holding the training in partnership with MFI Polytechnic Institute in Pasig City and the Metals Industry Research Development Center (MIRDC) under the Department of Science and Technology in Taguig City.

Present during the opening ceremony held last July 3 in Taguig were Agustin Fudolig, Deputy Executive Director for Technical Service  of MIRDC; Antonio Kosca, Executive Vice President & COO, MFI Polytechnic Institute; Germinia Aguilar-Usudan, Director, Gulf States, Office of Middle East and African Affairs OMEA); and, Saad Abdullah Aldosari, Attache, Royal Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.  Also in attendance were TESDA Deputy Director General for Policies and Planning Rosanna Urdaneta and Executive Director Elmer Talavera along with other officials and staff.
