This glossary of terms intends to provide the TESDA key players, partners, and stakeholders an online and updated TVET information, concepts, to bring common understanding and clarification on the use of TESDA terminologies.



CONCEPT/TERM DEFINITION
INTERNAL QUALITY AUDIT (IQA)

a systematic, independent and documented process for obtaining audit evidence and evaluating it objectively to determine the extent to which criteria are fulfilled.

INTERNATIONAL INDUSTRY IMMERSION

the process of deploying WET trainers to industries/companies from other countries to enhance their skills, knowledge, and attitudes in their area of specialization to be applied to their training institutions for quality TVET training.

INTERNATIONAL TRAINING

a skills upgrading program for trainers conducted in other countries by a reputable organization to enhance their skills, knowledge, and attitudes in their area of specialization.

INTERNET OF THINGS (IoT)
  • is the inter-networking of physical devices, vehicles (also referred to as "connected devices" and "smart devices"), buildings, and other items embedded with electronics, software, sensors, actuators, and network connectivity that enable these objects to collect and exchange data. (Brown, Eric (13 September 2016). "Who Needs the Internet of Things?"Linux.com)
  • the concept of basically connecting any device with an on and off switch to the Internet (and/or to each other). This includes everything from cellphones, coffee makers, washing machines, headphones, lamps, wearable devices and almost anything else you can think of.  This also applies to components of machines, for example, a jet engine of an airplane or the drill of an oil rig. The IoT is a giant network of connected “things” (which also includes people).  The relationship will be between people-people, people-things, and things-things. (Morgan, 2014)

INVESTMENT FACILITATION

refers to a set of policies and actions aimed at making it easier for investors to establish and expand their investments, as well as to conduct their day-to-day business in host countries.

INVESTMENT TO TESD

refers to the amount invested by the partner to TESD programs such as but not limited to: skills training, scholarships, assessment and certification, standards development, research, etc. The amount may be spent directly by the partner or transferred/contributed to TESDA to fund the TESD programs. It covers expenses for MOOE, training fee, assessment fee, supplies, and materials, etc.

INVISIBLY UNDEREMPLOYED

includes employed persons who worked for 40 hours or more during the basic survey reference period and still want additional hours of work in their present job or an additional job, or to have a new job with longer working hours.

JOB
  • a set of tasks and duties executed, or meant to be executed, by one person; a regular activity performed in exchange for payment, especially as part of one's trade, occupation, or profession.

JOB EVALUATION

a systematic way to gather and analyze information about the content and human requirements of the job, and the context in which the job is performed. This process identifies the existing tasks, duties and responsibilities of the job and what awareness, knowledge, skills, abilities, and attitudes are needed to do the job.

JOB FAIR
  • a career fair (also known as a job fair) is a recruiting event where job seekers meet with multiple employers.
  •  an employment facilitation strategy aimed to fast-track the meeting of job seekers and employers/overseas recruitment agencies in one venue at a specific date to reduce cost, time, and effort particularly on the part of the applicants. (BLE-DOLE)
