Within the nook of its offices or in communities and training institutes could be undiscovered potential, and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) is on the lookout for them.

Unveiling the TESDA Model Employee of the Year Award (TMEOYA) program for 2011, Director General Joel Villanueva said it is time to give recognition to the hardworking men and women who have helped stir the agency where it is now.

"We want to bring the TESDA icons out of the shadows and into the limelight so they can inspire their fellow employees to always excel," Villanueva said.

"The recognition will also serve as morale booster for them to continue working with passion, positive attitude and commitment to meet their goals," the TESDA chief added.

The annual search is for employees "who have delivered desired results and displayed exemplary behavior while working for and in behalf of the Authority."

Judging for the model employees will rely on competency-based performance that will look into their productivity, individual contribution, human relations competency, leadership skills, attendance and punctuality and performance track record.

Employees who have originated or successfully implemented an idea or innovation that improved a process or service in the agency will also be considered. Villanueva said all employees are eligible for the recognition, thus, extensive search is encouraged.

Four awardees will be chosen from the four job categories in the agency namely, Category I - those positions with salary grade 1 to 17, II - salary grade 18 to 23, III - salary grade 24, and IV - salary grade 25 to 27.

The employee may be nominated by his peers and will undergo an evaluation by a selection body.

The final choice for the TESDA icons is expected to be known in August, during the TESDA Anniversary celebration.

“At the end of the day, it is not just the head of the agency who is responsible for its success, but the men and women on the ground who serve as pillars of the institution,” Villanueva said.
