Some 100,000 construction workers will be trained by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) nationwide under the “Build, Build, Build” program of President Rodrigo Duterte.

The project was launched by TESDA Director General Guiling “Gene” Mamondiong during the National Integration Scholarship Program (NISP)  Forum in Butuan City.

To be trained in construction are the indigenous peoples (IPs), the poor and rebel returnees. After the students have completed the program, they will be hired by the government to take part in various infrastructure projects such as building roads, bridges, and establishments.

The “ambitious bridge projects” of the Duterte administration will connect the provinces of Negros Oriental, Cebu, Bohol and Leyte under the" Build, Build, Build" program.

“This is only an initial training for the Build, Build, Build alone," said  Mamondiong.

The TESDA chief said that the infrastructure projects of the government will guarantee the poor sector, rebel returnees, and IPs to get jobs.

The "Build, Build, Build" infrastructure programs or “Dutertenomics” will earmark some U$160-$180 billion funds for the “ambitious projects”  which will also include the Mega Manila Subway, complex road networks, long-spand bridges, flood control, urban water systems and other-related projects. These programs are expected to be finished until 2022.

Mamondiong has said that the intensified infra program of the government will boost the economy as it will create 12 million jobs under the Duterte administration.

All the 122 TESDA training centers will be open from Feb. 27-28 for the National TVET Enrolment and Jobs Bridging and receive application forms from IPs, rebel returnees and the poor who want to avail of the construction seminar.

Officials of the barangays, municipal and city governments may also submit a list of those who are qualified for the "Build' program. Later, these lists will be submitted to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) for evaluation.
