Taguig City – In line with the celebration of its 27th founding anniversary and the National Tech-Voc Day, the Technical Education and Skill Development Authority renewed its commitment to provide services to Filipinos amid the pandemic.

In his anniversary message, TESDA Secretary Isidro Lapeña recognized the initiatives of all TESDAns amid the pandemic and vowed to accomplish the Agency’s plans and targets to continuously improve the technical and vocational education and training (TVET) in the country.

“We also move towards creating opportunities to innovate our programs and services in order for the country’s workforce to meet the challenges of the 4th Industrial Revolution,” Lapeña said.

“I know that we can bring TESDA at the forefront of modern and innovative technical vocational education and training,” he added.

TESDA, Lapeña noted, is now focused on establishing 4.0-ready TESDA Technology Institutions (TTIs) and innovation centers.

During the TESDA Anniversary program, the Agency recognized their partners from different sectors and awarded outstanding employees, TTIs, and Regional and Provincial Officers.

Sen. Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go was adjudged as the 2021 National Kabalikat Special Awardee for his support in advancing TVET in the country. TESDA likewise honored 26 partners from local government units (LGUs), the legislative branch, and the industry as Kabalikat Awardees for their significant contribution in TVET.

TESDA also awarded the Best Training Institution. For TESDA Administered School, the Agency proclaimed Pangasinan School of Arts and Trades (PSAT) while Quezon City Lingkod Bayan Skills Development Center (QCLBSDC) and RTC XI – KorPhil Davao for Provincial Training Center and Regional Training Center respectively.

For Galing Probinsya, TESDA proclaimed Davao Oriental Provincial Office for Small Category, Benguet Provincial Office for Medium Category, and Batangas Provincial Office for Large Category.

Likewise, Best Regional Offices were also recognized. TESDA awarded Region VIII for Small Category, Region XI for Medium Category, and the National Capital Region (NCR) for the Large Category.

Meanwhile, in his video message sent to the agency, President Rodrigo Duterte recognized TESDA’s significant role in honing skills that Filipinos may use for livelihood and greater productivity.

“I trust that your Anniversary and the National Tech-Voc Day will inspire the agency to continue providing quality technical and vocational education to more Filipinos,” he said.

For this year, the theme for the agency’s anniversary is "TESDA@27: Pagbangon, Pag-Asa at Pag-abante sa Bente Syete".

Other highlights of TESDA’s week-long anniversary celebration were the World Café of Opportunities (WCO) for jobseekers, and the National TVET Enrollment Day (NTED) for individuals wishing to enroll in tech-voc courses. ###
