Taguig City – The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) has warned the public regarding fake National Certificates (NC) which are being sold on social media sites.

TESDA Secretary Isidro Lapeña said that NCs are only issued by TESDA offices to qualified individuals who have passed the assessment. When issued, NCs are valid for five years.

“Ang tunay na NC po ay hindi for sale. Ang isang indibidwal na nakapasa lamang sa competency assessment ang entitled para magawaran ng NC,” Lapeña said.

The agency had received reports that there are Facebook groups that are offering NCs for different technical vocational courses for a certain amount of money. Fake NCs are also being submitted to employers for job requirements.

With this, Lapeña warned the public that employers can verify the authenticity of the NCs. He added that the agency is coordinating with the authorities to crackdown the illegal selling of NCs.

“We also urge the public to report to us if they know someone who sells NC, via our hotline, 8887-7777.” Lapeña said.

TESDA prioritizes the integrity of its certification system and complies with the Philippine TVET Competency Assessment and Certification System (PTCACS) in certifying middle-level workers to ensure their productivity, quality, and global competitiveness.

TESDA has a Registry of Certified Workers available online so one can check the pool of certified workers for certain occupations nationwide. It can be browsed on the TESDA Website. ###
