Taguig City – In line with the celebration of National Women’s Month, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) has added two courses about gender and development (GAD) in its online learning platform.

According to e-TESDA, the courses “Working in a Gender-Diverse Environment” and “Conducting Gender Analysis, Mainstreaming, and Planning and Budgeting” were integrated into the TESDA Online Program (TOP).

The course “Working in a Gender-Diverse Environment” is available to all TOP learners while “Conducting Gender Analysis, Mainstreaming, and Planning and Budgeting” is initially available to members of TESDA GAD Focal Point System.

TESDA Secretary Isidro Lapeña said that these courses were added to the TOP to provide its users the right information to promote a gender-fair society and a workplace free from gender discrimination.

“We hope that through these online courses, we will be able to increase the public’s level of awareness and concern about issues related to gender and development,” the TESDA Chief said.

The courses were developed by different TESDA offices with the help of the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW).

Meanwhile, as of February, there are 125,523 users who have registered in the TOP for 2022 putting the accumulated users since 2012 at 3,715,299. Currently, there are 128 online courses in the TOP.

In 2019, TESDA developed the TESDA GAD Agenda 2020-2025, which will serve as the agency’s guide in the formulation of the annual GAD planning and budgeting (GPB) for the next six years.

The main goal of GAD in TVET is to contribute to gender equality and encourage and improve the participation of women in TVET. ###
