Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Director General Danilo P. Cruz administered the oath of newly appointed members of the TESDA Women’s Center (TWC) Advisory Council.

The Center Advisory Council (CAC) is now composed of Pacita Juan, its chair, and Gilda Patricia Maquilan, representing the business sector; TESDA Deputy Director General Rosanna Urdaneta, representing the government sector; Ma. Aurora Geotina-Garcia, representing the women NGO sector; Carolyn Sobritchea, representing the academe sector; Teresita Borgoños, representing the industry/construction sector; and Xavier Alpasa, representing the social economy sector.

Other members are Ma. Paloma B. Papa, representing the employer sector; Olivia Limpe-Aw, representing the employer; Ahmma Charisma Lobrin-Satumba, representing the workers with special concerns sector; and the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) Chairperson, in which the President has not appointed yet, representing the government/women empowerment sector.

The main objectives of the CAC are to provide policy advice, guidance, and build wider networks for the TWC and ensure that its implementing policies will be responsive to the values, beliefs, and priorities of the center.

In his message, DG Cruz congratulated the members of the CAC and also expressed his support to the council in their objective to empower Filipino women in the technical vocational education and training (TVET) sector.

“I fully join you in your objective to economically empower Filipino women and lead in promoting gender equality in TVET to make TESDA programs accessible and inclusive to all,” he said.

The CAC was created in October 2018 with the aim to advocate for the empowerment of women and other marginalized groups in the TVET sector. This March 2023, four new members were added to the said council.

Meanwhile, also present during the oath-taking ceremony were TESDA Deputy Directors General Aniceto D. Bertiz III and Vidal Villanueva III.
