The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) has partnered with a leading corporation specializing in high-quality production services for television, commercials, digital content, and films to enhance skills development and training in the creative sector.

Last May 26, the TESDA National Capital Region Regional Director Jovencio M. Ferrer Jr. and CMB Films President Jaime G. Baltazar signed a Memorandum of Understanding to uplift Filipino talent and develop the creative economy, particularly in film and video production.

“This partnership is more than a memorandum—it is a commitment. We are committed to narrowing the skills gap in our local film industry, nurturing a skilled and competitive workforce, and equipping Filipino creatives with the competencies needed to thrive both locally and globally,” said Director Ferrer.

In line with this goal, CMB Films President Jaime Baltazar emphasized the importance of professionalizing the local film workforce and aligning it with international standards.

“It has always been our dream for film industry workers to be recognized as professionals and to meet global standards. We are one step closer. Together, we will build a future where every Filipino is equipped to thrive,” he said.

Under the partnership, TESDA will lead the implementation of a comprehensive film production training program by providing qualified trainers, resources, facilities, and conducting assessment and certification.

CMB Films will actively support the initiative by working closely in the development and enhancement of the curriculum and competency standards for film and video production. They will train qualified trainers under the supervision and guidance of the Lupon ng Pilipinong Sinematograpo. Essential tools, equipment and access to state-of-the-art equipment will also be provided by CMB Films.

The collaboration supports TESDA’s Area-Based Demand-Driven central strategy, and industry-responsive technical vocational education and training programs for the continued development of the Philippine film industry and promotion of sustainable careers in the creative sector.

This effort underscores TESDA and CMB’s shared commitment to building a more dynamic, inclusive, and globally competitive creative economy, serving as a model for public-private partnerships in technical education.
