The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) has welcomed Galo B. Glino III and Avelino D. Tolentino III as its new Deputy Directors General, holding the rank of Undersecretary, as appointed by President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos, Jr.
TESDA Secretary Kiko Benitez expressed his confidence in the newly appointed officials, emphasizing that their experience would be a great help in TESDA’s mission to produce a multi-skilled and globally competitive workforce.
“Their leadership will be instrumental in driving forward TESDA’s mission to transform lives through relevant, responsive, and future-ready skills training. We look forward to working together in strengthening TVET and ensuring it remains a key pillar of national development,” Sec. Kiko said.
When Sec. Kiko was appointed to TESDA, Glino served as the Agency’s Chief of Staff and Acting Executive Director of the Information and Communications Technology Office.
Prior to TESDA, Glino headed the Legislative Team of Sec. Kiko, when the latter was still Congressman of the Third District of Negros Occidental. Glino contributed to the draft of 20 laws covering subjects from education and housing, to creative industries and sustainable development.
Meanwhile, Tolentino, a lawyer and urban planner, served as Undersecretary of the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development. Prior to this he was the department’s assistant secretary, supervising its seven support services.
“I am confident that TESDA will reach new heights and deliver even greater impact with the addition of these two brilliant leaders,” Sec. Kiko said.
DDGs Glino and Tolentino are expected to lead key strategic initiatives aligned with TESDA’s reform agenda—advancing innovation, enhancing industry partnerships, and supporting lifelong learning for all Filipino workers.
The TESDA community congratulates Deputy Directors General Glino and Tolentino and extends full support as they assume their new roles in service to the Filipino people.
