The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority remains the top-performing government agency in both approval and trust ratings, according to the PAHAYAG 2026 First Quarter Survey conducted by PUBLiCUS Asia Inc.

In the latest survey, TESDA recorded a 65% approval rating and a 45% trust rating, reaffirming strong public confidence in the agency’s consistent delivery of accessible, relevant, and high-quality technical vocational education and training (TVET) programs for Filipinos. The agency has held this position for the last 14 consecutive quarters.

TESDA Secretary Kiko Benitez welcomed the results, emphasizing that the agency’s consistent performance reflects the trust of the Filipino people.

“This recognition belongs to every TESDA trainer, partner and learner who continues to believe in the power of skills to transform lives. We are grateful for the public’s trust, and we remain committed to delivering quality, accessible, and future-ready training for all Filipinos,” Sec. Kiko said.

The agency’s sustained top ranking highlights its continued commitment to empowering the Filipino workforce through skills development, aligned with the national agenda of President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr., which prioritizes employment generation, economic resilience and inclusive growth.

In the first quarter of 2026, TESDA rolled out key initiatives to further strengthen its programs and services, including the TESDA Skills Passport, a digital platform that allows individuals to document and showcase their competencies for easier employer verification.

TESDA also expanded its upskilling and reskilling programs for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), supporting their reintegration into the local workforce and opening new career opportunities. Around 8,000 scholarship slots have been allotted to OFWs who may be affected by the conflict in the Middle East.

The agency further strengthened its coordination with the Department of Education and the Commission on Higher Education to ensure better alignment between basic education, higher education, and technical vocational training, while continuing to provide free competency assessments for Senior High School (SHS) graduates. TESDA and DepEd are eyeing to assess over 260,000 graduating Senior High School students in the Technical-Vocational-Livelihood (SHS-TVL) track strand this year.

“We reaffirm our commitment to further expand access to quality TVET programs and strengthen collaboration with industry and government partners to support national development goals under the administration of President Marcos. “More opportunities. Better quality jobs. Stronger TVET for all,” the TESDA chief said.

Meanwhile, Sec. Kiko led the opening of the TESDA Media Lounge at the agency’s headquarters in Taguig City. The media lounge is designed as a dedicated space for journalists and media personnel to access timely and relevant TESDA information, conduct interviews, and efficiently cover programs, services, and initiatives of the agency. It aims to create a more accessible and media-friendly environment within TESDA premises.

This initiative underscores TESDA’s recognition of the media as a vital partner in delivering accurate and timely information to the public and in reaching diverse audiences across the country.
