TESDA-X launch Tsuper Iskolar and Regional Line Agencies’ Training and Employment Coordinators (RLATECs)

April 23, 2019, Cagayan de Oro City, Misamis Oriental – The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA)- X in partnership with the Department of Transportation (DOTr) through the Land Transportation Office (LTO)-X and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB)-X conducted the regional launching of “Tsuper Iskolar” and orientation on the Scholarship Program of DOTr Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program (PUVMP) held at the Grand Caprice Restaurant and Convention Center, Limketkai, Cagayan de Oro City on April 23, 2019.

The Tsuper Iskolar Program regional theme is “Kasanayan ng Tsuper, Hatid ay Disiplina sa Kalsada at Kabuhayan ng Pamilya” aims to capacitate the stakeholders of the transport sector who will be affected by the PUVMP of the government, through skills training and development of new training regulations to support the transportation industry.

TESDA-X Regional Director Tarhata S. Mapandi pointed out that “DOTr and TESDA through the Stakeholder Mechanism Component came up with the Tsuper Iskolar, to lessen and ease the burden of the social impact of this transition, modernizing public transport, to our stakeholders and their families”.This is one of TESDA Secretary Isidro S. Lapeña’s directives to fast track programs and ensure those who will be affected are taken cared of through provision of skills training and livelihood after.

Guests attended the event include Regional Director Nelson S. Manaloto of LTO-X, Regional Director Aminoden D. Guro of LTFRB-X, Dir. Marie Elaine S. Unchuan of the Department of Tourism (DOT)-X, City Mayor of Cagayan de Oro Hon. Oscar S. Moreno, Regional Technical Education and Skills Development Committee Vice-Chair Mr. Antonio D. Uy and Mr. Peter Elman, representative of Misamis Oriental Governor Yevgeny Vincente B. Emano.

Around twenty (20) transport cooperatives/federations/associations in the region were represented during the activity.

Also, part of the activity is the launching of the Regional Line Agencies’ Training and Employment Coordinators (RLATECs). This is one of TESDA-X’s strategies to engage all partner government agencies involved in the provision of technical-vocational education and training (TVET).

“This is one way of capturing the region 10 skills training and livelihood initiatives and be able for us to come up with a holistic and integrated technical-vocational education and skills training map”, RD Mapandi stated.

“Not to duplicate, but complement the specific training interventions of the regional line agencies,” she added.

The following government agencies were represented: Department of Industry (DTI), Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Department of Agriculture-Agricultural Training Institute (DA-ATI), Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), Department of Health (DOH), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

The TESDA-X Provincial Directors and School/Center Administrators were also present.
